    • The new Gantt chart:

Week 8

  • The filter is complete, only minor tweaks hear and there.
    • We are still feeding the filter and keep it moist to grow the biofilm.
  • The filter is producing good results.
    • The river water was 4.27 NTU and the filtered water is .48 NTU.
    • We are excited with the results.

  • The final report was tweaked.
    • All the members of the group gathered to make the final report better.
  • The presentation was also tweaked.
    • All the members of the group also made improvements upon the presentation.

Week 7

  • The filter is completely finished and no additional work is required for it.
    • We continued to feed water into the filter to keep it moist at all times
    • This makes it so the biofilm can survive

  • The turbidity readings for this week showed drastic improvement.
    • The water was filtered effectively and is considered potable
    • The river water was 4.27 NTU and the filtered water is .60 NTU.
    • We are happy with these results

  • Our filter is working effectively as the results are good.
  • We made improvements to our PowerPoint to make our presentation better.
    • We added results and more slides explaining our design.
    • We practiced presenting to an audience and coordinated what team member say what slide.

Week 6

  • The bio-film is growing on the top of the sand. This film will take out pathogens that the sand will not. We are leaving water at the top of the sand at all times to promote growth of the film.
-We had to dry out the bio-film overnight to stay consistent with the rest of the class.
-Right after this, we continued to keep it wet at all times.
  • We had to reseal the outflow tube because it was leaking. We used epoxy instead of silicon and it worked a lot better to seal it. We also added more epoxy to the connection of the two 2-liter bottles because it was leaking. These worked and it is no longer leaking.
  • The turbidity readings for this week showed improvement. The river water was 3.9 NTU while the filtered water was .48 NTU. This is acceptable drinking water.
  • We worked on and completed our final report draft. We still need to add results to this report but it is a good start. We also made our preliminary presentation and realized it still needs work
-We need to improve the power point
-We need to work on what we are going to say and be more organized.
  • We made a new and improved Gantt chart:
